Severn Sailing Team Earns Team of the Year Honors for 2022-23 Season

Severn School has been named High School Sailing Team of the Year for 2022-23 by Sail1Design.

S1Design is a sailing career center and brokerage based in Severna Park, Maryland.

This award is calculated based on weighted percentages of a team’s results in the Baker, Mallory, and Cressy championships, with double weight given to the Mallory and Baker. In the event of a tie or uncertainty, season-long results are factored in, including Keelboat Nationals. Severn placed 1st at the Baker National Championship, 2nd at the Mallory Doublehanded Championship, and 1st at the Cressy Singlehanded National Championship.

Second place Team of the Year was Mater-Dei High School, which placed 2nd at the Baker, 1st at the Mallory and 7th at the Cressy.

This is the first Team of the Year Award for the Severn Admirals. Past winners include Mater Dei High School, Antilles School, Point Loma High School and St. George’s School.

Sail1Design is a grassroots organization, by sailors for sailors, dedicated to the youth, high school, college, and one-design sailing communities. Born in 2007, Sail1Design has grown considerably, and reaches out to all sailors wishing to enjoy and learn more about the sport.
