Upper School Student-Athletes Honored at Spring Assembly
Severn School celebrated the conclusion of a successful spring athletic season with an all-school assembly on May 23.
Upper School students competed in girls and boys lacrosse, boys tennis, golf, sailing, track and field and baseball.
All of the student-athletes and coaches who competed during a very competitive spring season were acknowledged for their sportsmanship, commitment and enthusiasm.
One of the most notable highlights for Severn Athletics this spring was the recent National Team Racing Championship that sailing notched at the Baker National Championships in Deephaven, MN. This marks the first-ever podium-topping finish for the Admirals at this event, having placed 3rd in 2021 and 2022. The Severn Admirals will soon compete for another national sailing title at the Mallory Doublehanded Championship, which will take place on June 3-4 in Toms River, NJ.
In addition to acknowledging the efforts and successes of each team, two individual awards were announced for each team. The Players’ Award goes to the team member who demonstrated leadership, sportsmanship, team spirit, a selfless attitude, commitment and a true love of the game. This award is voted on by the members of the team. The Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award is selected by the coach and presented to the best player overall.
