Jennifer Hartman Songer '98

Jennifer has extensive public and private sector experience in the investment management industry. She currently serves as Branch Chief of the Private Funds Branch, a unit of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Investment Management in Washington, DC. The Private Funds Branch assists the Commission in developing policy relating to private funds and their advisers. As head of the Private Funds Branch, Jennifer is the key adviser on all private fund-related projects and priorities at the Commission. Prior to joining the Commission, she was in private practice where she advised clients on the structuring, formation, and private offering requirements of private funds and provided counsel to investment advisers in regulatory, compliance and corporate matters. She received a J.D. from Boston College Law School and a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania where she was the captain of the lacrosse team. Jennifer lives in Annapolis with her husband, Sean (Severn ’97), and their three daughters.
