Katie Dickerson '09
Hometown: Palo Alto, CA
Katie has worked broadly in the non-profit sector as a construction supervisor in Central Appalachia, program manager for Childreach International, consultant for Remote Area Medical and researcher for the World Health Organization. She received her undergraduate degree from Emory University and a PhD in neuroscience from the University of St Andrews in Scotland. She is currently a fourth-year medical student at Stanford University, where she serves as manager of the Arbor Free Clinic and started a new health navigation program for homeless women as an Albert Schweitzer Fellow. She has developed and taught courses at both St Andrews and Stanford; with her research focusing on the development of learning and memory in children with and without developmental disorders. Katie hopes to use her career as an Emergency Medicine physician to better understand the needs of her community and advocate for the underserved.
