Lauren Faust Hanzel '00

After Severn, Lauren attended Stanford University, where she was selected as an Academic All-American all four years and helped lead the women’s water polo team to the NCAA National Championship title in 2002. Graduating with a degree in American Studies and minors in Psychology and Political Science, Lauren went on to attend Tulane University Law School, where she was made editor-in-chief of the Sports Law Journal and clerked at the Louisiana Supreme Court for the first female elected judge in Louisiana, Justice Jeanette Theriot Knoll. After law school, Lauren commissioned in the United States Navy Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps, spending over 10 years on active duty, including a 2009 deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. After leaving active duty, Lauren and her husband, Mike, started their own law firm specializing in military law and security clearances, and she continues to serve as a reserve officer in the U.S. Navy, where she holds the rank of Lieutenant Commander.  Lauren lives in Mt Pleasant, SC with her husband and sons, Patrick (6) and Thomas (5).
