Amit Khandelwal '98
Hometown: New York, NY
Amit’s most memorable experience at Severn School was participating in an extracurricular activity, the Fed Challenge, with some close friends and long-time teacher, Mr. John Bodley. Participating in the competition triggered his interest to study economics in college at Northwestern University and abroad at the London School of Economics. Amit went on to get a Ph.D. in Economics at Yale University, and now teaches at Columbia Business School. At Columbia, Amit is the Jerome A. Chazen Professor of Global Business, and his research examines issues in international and development economics. Shortly after moving to NY, he met his future wife, and they recently celebrated their 8th anniversary. They live in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of New York City, and spend much of their time these days chasing after their two twin boys on Columbia's campus.
