Keegan Wilkinson Named Boys Varsity Lacrosse Coach
Keegan Wilkinson has been named the new Head Coach for Severn’s Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team.
Wilkinson comes to Severn after a 17-year Division I coaching run – including 13 years as the Head Coach -- at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, where he was a three-time MAAC Coach of the Year. He departed as the winningest head coach in program history, posting a 99-85 overall record and a 52-25 record in MAAC regular season play. Under his leadership, Marist won MAAC titles in 2015, 2019, and 2023.
“I’m excited to get the school year started,” said Wilkinson. “My most important task will be building relationships with the team and staff. Whatever goals we set forth as a program, they will only be accomplished together and with a great sense of belief.
“My hope is to help build confidence with all involved in the program that competing with the best teams in the country and for a MIAA championship is something we can do in the 2025 season,” he added. “This will only be accomplished through hard work and intense commitment.”
Wilkinson is no stranger to the area or to Maryland lacrosse, having grown up in Columbia, Maryland, and graduating from DeMatha Catholic High School. He then went on to St. Joseph's University, where he was a four-year starter on the lacrosse team.
Wilkinson succeeds Joe Christie, who stepped down in May after 10 years on the sideline, 7 of those as the Head Coach. Under Christie’s leadership, the Admirals earned playoff berths in the MIAA A Conference in 2018, 2021, and 2022.
“This was a big decision for my family, but as I learned more about Severn, it became very clear that this is a special place,” said Wilkinson. “The lacrosse program has a rich tradition and a very bright future. I have great confidence that with the talent on our current team and the strong culture that exists within the program we will be able to compete against the nation’s best.”
