Breakwater Earns 3 CARA Nominations and Lands Track on 2024 BOHSA Album

Breakwater, Severn’s award-winning a cappella group, recently earned national recognition from two organizations.
First, a track from the group’s latest EP, titled Breathe was selected for inclusion on the 2024 Best of High School A Cappella (BOHSA) album. This annual compilation from Varsity Vocals has recognized the best high school a cappella recordings nationwide for over 20 years. “Alive” is the penultimate track on the album, alongside 18 other outstanding high school a cappella tracks. Both albums are available to stream on Spotify, Apple Music, and other digital platforms.

Breakwater was also nominated for 3 CARAs (Contemporary A cappella Recording Awards) for 2024. In the a cappella community, the CARAs are equivalent to the Grammys. Breakwater was nominated for:
  • Best High School Album or EP: Breathe
  • Best High School Lead Vocal: Sophia Amplo '23 for “Alive” from Breathe
  • Best High School Song: “Dandelions” from Breathe

The full list of nominees can be found here. Winners were announced at BOSS 2024 (the Boston Sings A Cappella Festival) on April 21.
